Who Gives the Cops Traffic Tickets?

Law enforcement does a lot for the community and should be revered. But we’ve all seen it. The occasional cop who puts on his lights just to get through the traffic light, or speeds down the road for now particular reason.

Friday night, at about 9:06 pm, I was traveling southbound in my neighborhood, on Tierra Este. Traveling north bound were two vehicles. One was a pick-up truck and the other was an El Paso County Sheriff’s vehicle traveling at about 60 mph. It’s a dark stretch of road between Edgemere and Montana on Tierra Este with low visibility and the Sheriff’s vehicle was traveling at an unsafe speed without any police emergency lights on.

If someone was crossing the street or if a vehicle had pulled out, there would have been a tragedy, probably a bloody one. The area I am talking about is only a few hundred feet from the Sheriff’s station on Montana. If the officer was responding to a call, why didn’t they have th

Another Thousand Words..

Not sure if you all 'memmer a feature on the old blog site about Freeway Carpets and their bill boards but I used to post some of their bill boards on the blog.

Here is one from earlier this year. I have been holding on to it because it was a little strong, but since the Democratic primary is all but over, I figure its okay to post it now.

Keep in mind, I only took the picture and don't know the owners there.

Burn!!!

I thought this guy was just another pan handler until I read his sign more closely. I happen to know the owner of D & D Professional Services.

I made a U-turn and gave the guy a ten.

Talk about holding someone accountable!!!!

Out-of-Control Gas Prices!!!

Man, gas is getting out of control! I don’t know how much longer Americans can take these gas prices. I am cutting way back on a lot of stuff, but we need relief soon!

And a BS gas tax break ain’t gonna cut it people. We need a real solution…fast! I think I’ll post the prices of gas where I fill up at over the summer so that later in the summer we can go back to this posting and remember the good ole’ days of prices like this!

Follow-up to Conversation with Paul Strelzin regarding Marisa Marquez

I had a conversation with Paul Strelzin on the El Paso on the Move radio show this morning regarding my previous post about Marisa Marquez and the postings on the El Paso Times forum. Paul was critical about the fact that I didn’t verify that it was Marquez before I posted the blog piece.

In fairness to me, let me explain to you readers that there is only one way to verify someone’s identity posted on a message board. I would have to have Administrator credentials to find her IP address. Even then, that would only get me verification that it was done on a computer that she used. Doesn’t even guarantee that she personally wrote the posting.

But I did wait a few days before I wrote about it in case it wasn’t her and someone reported abuse on the message board. That did not take place, so I posted a link to it. People can make up their own minds about what’s written there.

The larger point is that public figures shouldn’t be naïve about

Marisa Marquez Makes Racial Comments? / Political Realignment

I supported Marissa Marquez because I wanted to see a change in District 77. But some things have happened over the last couple of days that are worrying me about her (already).

I came across this exchange involving Marisa Marquez, State Representative-Elect in District 77, on an El Paso Times forum (http://www.topix.net/forum/source/el-paso-times/T5LLCN2D3KBK77Q8S). She was discussing the state of the presidential race on the Democratic side of the ticket. I found this comment particularly interesting:

“A black man will never be president of the United States (sic) at least in our life time. He must (sic) as well concede to McCain. Give it up to four more years of Republican rule.

Foxy’s & the Lamplighter’s Grandfather Clause “Revealed”

Okay, bad pun, but I wanted to pass on this information to you readers so that you would know about something that not too many people know about. Actually, more people probably know about it that would like to admit to in public.

A friend of mine went to Foxy’s a couple of months ago. I pass Jaguars almost everyday on the freeway and noticed that they seemed to be advertising more gimmicks to get people to go to the club than before, so I asked him how different things were at Foxy’s since the new six foot rule. Trust me, this vato is probably an expert. Spends a whole lot of time and money on lap dances!

He said that it was the same, business as usual. (Not exactly sure what that means, but I assume it to mean that nothing has changed). So I asked if it was just that the strip clubs were ignoring the rule and waiting for the police to come in and enforce the issue and he stated that wasn’t the case at

Hillary Clinton & Race in the Race

Senator Clinton is starting to fall off of the deep end. I wanted to write about this earlier in the week, but I have been trying to fix this coding problem that I developed. Now that I am back in business, here we go.

During a recent interview with USA Today, Hillary stated,

"Sen. Obama's support among working, hard-working Americans, white Americans, is weakening again, and how whites in both states who had not completed college were supporting me."

'There's a pattern emerging here,' she said."

Has she lost her mind? In her win-at-all-costs strategy, is she seriously trying to alienate the African-American community when they have been one of the most loyal Democratic voting blocks in the history of the party?

Full Speed Ahead to the Whitehouse

Hillary Clinton narrowly squeaked out a victory in Indiana and suffered a double-digit defeat in North Carolina. Early in the evening Clinton claimed victory in Indiana and told her supporters, “…full speed ahead to the Whitehouse!”

Sounds like you can add that quote to the list of famous last words. You can put that one on the list near, “Read my lips” and “I did not have sexual relations with that young woman…”

Without a convincing victory in Indiana, Hillary is all but done at this point. Reminded me of something Ross Perot said in the ’92 election when he was talking about how NAFTA would make a “loud sucking sound” of jobs heading to Mexico.

Well I heard another loud sucking sound last night. It was the support of all the super delegates that are going to back Barack Obama. I doubt Hil

Sex Offenders on the Loose in El Paso

Just outside of the metro area lies the Multi-Use Facility in Horizon City, Texas. This facility houses mostly out-of-town felons transitioning from the prison system back into the real world. About 60-75% of the offenders housed at the facility are sex offenders, most of who are from another part of Texas.

Here’s why this matters to you. The inmates are transported by the bus load into various locations in town DAILY. Some of the inmates wear a leg monitor to track their movements, but most of them don’t. At least one of the locations that the inmates are dropped off at is a park ‘n ride parking lot next to the Sun Metro bus station at Cielo Vista Mall. School is going to be letting out soon and where do teenagers like to hang out and blow money? That’s right, the mall.

Burn in Hell Renteria

I’ve written before about the death penalty. I am against it, mostly because it hasn’t been shown to be a deterrent from crime, is disproportionately used against minorities, and because too many people have been exonerated through DNA evidence that would have otherwise been executed.

But another reason I am against it is because if the argument is punitive instead of a deterrent, then the harsher punishment would be to lock someone up for life. Death, especially if administered by lethal injection, is not the eye-for-an-eye that Hammurabi was looking for.

For monsters like that piece of crap Renteria, having to look over his shoulder and avoid prison gang rape for the rest of his life is a MUCH better punishment than to fall asleep.

What he did to that child was awful, and if we want payback for his actions, then le

Local Television Weather

Riddle me this, why in the world is the weather segment such a big block of the news cast on local stations? Unless there is something newsworthy about the weather, it just makes no sense to me why the news cast spends so much time on it.

I find myself staring at the TV wondering how long before its over. Actually, I usually just change the channel. Just tell me how hot or cold was it today, what the weather will be like tomorrow, and I am good.

Every once in a while, the weather is the news, like the big flooding a couple of summers ago. But most times of the year, especially this part of the year, you can pretty much repeat the same forecast. It’s hot, tomorrow will be hotter, it’s windy, tomorrow will be windier, sprinkle in a couple of days of rain between now and September and that’s pretty much El Paso

Famous Dave's on George Dieter

This is my fist restaurant review on my blog, so it must've either been really good or really bad if I felt strongly enough to write about it.

Somehow, I am not sure how, but I have never been to Famous Dave’s Restaurant (www.famousdaves.com). Yesterday I stopped by the location on George Deter, here on the east side of El Paso.

Holy crap!!!! Where has this restaurant been my whole life??? The food was GREAT. I normally stick to Mexican food when I go to a sit-down restaurant and I have never really been a big fan of barbeque.

But for some reason, I got the whim to pull in to Famous Dave’s and I have to say, I am really glad that I did. I had roasted chicken, corn, potato wedges,

Blanche Darley – Republican Operative in Sheep’s Clothing

We have a problem in the Democratic party. We have no unity!! None.

Another problem that we appear to have is the presence of a Republican operative disguising herself as a “Blue-Dog” Democrat. Blanche Darley, out-going Representative Paul Moreno’s sister, is apparently doing the devil’s dirty work for the Republican party.

There was an interesting editorial piece in the NewsPaperTree today (http://newspapertree.com/politics/2419-the-inner-loop-pledging-a-negative-campaign) in which the author, Owen White, comments on an email being distributed by Blanche Darley around town. White exposes the true source
